The latest MindsEye update marks a new stage in development for Build a Rocket Boy’s open-world game. The studio says the release is its most substantial post-launch update so far and describes it as a reset for the game and brand in 2026. It also outlines plans for additional content, although the announcement arrives amid continuing attention on the studio and its founder.

What the MindsEye update changes
Build a Rocket Boy says the update brings the game closer to the quality the studio intended and prepares it for future additions. The accompanying trailer is titled MindsEye – More Than It Seems. The announcement describes this as a significant step, but does not provide a detailed list of every change in the update.
The game launched in June to negative reviews and reports from players of bugs and performance problems. Sponsored marketing streams were cancelled shortly before launch, and the studio later laid off staff. Build a Rocket Boy has continued releasing patches since then; this latest update is the seventh. In November, the game also received a free starter pack trial on all platforms.
For players deciding whether to return, it may be useful to check the update notes for specific fixes and performance changes on their platform. A broad claim of improvement does not necessarily mean every previously reported issue has been resolved.
Future content and ARCADIA plans
CEO and CTO Mark Gerhard said the studio intends to make further improvements to combat and gameplay. He also described additional content as being in development and said the team would focus on consistent progress.
The studio plans to reveal an expansion in the coming months. It is expected to add end-game content and provide more ways to explore the game world. Build a Rocket Boy has also said that a multiplayer mode is coming to ARCADIA, its platform for creating and receiving additional missions. The studio says new missions are added to ARCADIA each month.
- Expansion: planned end-game content and expanded world exploration.
- ARCADIA: a multiplayer mode is planned, alongside the platform’s monthly missions.
- Further updates: combat and gameplay improvements remain part of the studio’s stated plans.
These are announced plans rather than a complete release schedule. Players looking for confirmed dates or feature details will need to wait for further updates from the studio.
Separate controversy surrounding the studio
The update announcement followed a public statement from studio founder and former Rockstar developer Leslie Benzies. His name appeared in material recently released by the US Justice Department. An email from an unnamed person, described in reports as an alleged victim of Jeffrey Epstein, accused Benzies of sexual assault. Benzies denied the allegation and said he had been in a consensual relationship with the person for three months. He also said he had never met Epstein or visited his properties or travelled on his plane.
In the days before the statement, Gerhard had accused people of targeting the company through alleged media manipulation, espionage, sabotage or interference. He had also previously suggested that criticism of the game before release was funded. Those claims are separate from the game update itself and should be understood as allegations and responses, not established facts. A company spokesperson confirmed that Benzies remains with Build a Rocket Boy.
What the 2026 reset means for MindsEye
For now, the MindsEye update represents a renewed effort to improve the game after a difficult launch, while the expansion and ARCADIA multiplayer mode remain future plans. The most practical measure of the reset will be whether subsequent updates deliver the promised gameplay improvements and whether the studio provides clear details about the new content.
