The new Star Wars Fortnite creator tools let creators build themed experiences in Fortnite using characters, locations, vehicles and weapons from the franchise. The toolset is available through Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and Fortnite Creative, giving creators ways to start a new Star Wars island or adapt an existing UEFN island.

What the Star Wars Fortnite creator tools include
Described as Fortnite’s largest intellectual property toolset to date, the release brings together templates, assets and gameplay features. Creators can use content associated with previous Star Wars-themed Battle Royale seasons, alongside updated interface elements and fonts designed for Star Wars islands.
UEFN also supports customisation for lightsabers and Force powers. These options can help creators shape themed gameplay, but the available assets and features should be checked in the editor before planning an island around a particular mechanic.
Templates and example games
Creators can begin with four UEFN starter islands or choose from two new flat grid islands in Fortnite Creative. Templates provide a starting structure, which can be useful for testing an idea before investing time in a more detailed island.
Epic and Lucasfilm have also released three games that demonstrate ways to use the Star Wars content:
- Galactic Siege, developed with Jogo Studios
- Escape Vader, made with Beyond Creative
- Droid Tycoon, created with FOAD
These examples offer players ready-made experiences and give creators a sense of the kinds of projects possible with the new tools.
Upcoming features and publishing requirements
Further features are planned, including first-person weapon support, custom items and inventories. These additions are not described as currently available, so creators should check the latest UEFN and Creator Portal information when deciding which features to use.
Star Wars islands can be submitted through the Creator Portal, and a Star Wars game collection page is planned for Fortnite Discover. To publish, creators must join the Fortnite Developer Program and accept additional terms in the Creator Portal. Publishing an island that uses Star Wars assets also requires sharing 20% of its engagement payout with The Walt Disney Company and following the Star Wars Brand Rules. Review those requirements before building or submitting an island.
Why Disney is expanding into interactive experiences
Sean Shoptaw, Disney Games and Digital Entertainment executive vice president, said interactive entertainment is becoming an important way for audiences to experience stories. He added that games can deepen engagement, expand fictional worlds and connect with fans in real time.
In 2024, The Walt Disney Company invested $1.5 billion to acquire an equity stake in Epic Games. The companies also announced plans for an “open, persistent, social universe” where players could watch, shop and engage with content, characters and stories from Disney’s portfolio.
What creators should consider
The Star Wars Fortnite creator tools offer a broad set of franchise assets and several ways to get started, from UEFN templates to Fortnite Creative islands. Before publishing, creators should confirm which features are available, understand the additional terms and payout arrangement, and make sure their island follows the Star Wars Brand Rules.
