Epic Games increases Fortnite V-Bucks “to help pay the bills”

The Fortnite V-Bucks price increase takes effect on March 19, 2026, when the next battle royale season begins. Although the listed prices of the four V-Bucks packs remain the same, each pack will provide fewer V-Bucks. Epic Games says the change is intended to help cover the rising cost of running Fortnite.

Fortnite V-Bucks price increase: pack changes

The amount of currency included in each of the four packs will decrease. Players comparing options should check the V-Bucks amount shown at checkout rather than relying on a pack’s previous value.

  • $8.99 pack: 800 V-Bucks, down from 1,000
  • $22.99 pack: 2,400 V-Bucks, down from 2,800
  • $36.99 pack: 4,500 V-Bucks, down from 5,000
  • $89.99 pack: 12,500 V-Bucks, down from 13,500

The dollar prices and currency amounts above are the announced figures. In practical terms, buyers will receive less in-game currency for the same listed pack price after the change begins.

Changes to Fortnite Crew and passes

Monthly Fortnite Crew members will receive 800 V-Bucks instead of the current 1,000. Players who subscribe should take this reduced monthly reward into account when deciding whether the membership still suits their spending plans.

The main battle pass will no longer include bonus currency rewards. Its price will also fall from 1,000 V-Bucks to 800 V-Bucks. Fortnite’s OG, Lego and Music passes will each be reduced by 200 V-Bucks, and an optional season pass will be introduced.

These adjustments affect both the amount of currency players can receive and the cost of some passes. Before purchasing, it may help to compare the new pass prices with the V-Bucks available in an account, especially if planning to buy more than one pass.

When the new V-Bucks amounts begin

The changes are scheduled to start on March 19, 2026, alongside the next battle royale season. Players can use that date as a reference when checking the current pack contents and pass prices in the game. The announced figures apply from the changeover; review the displayed amount and price before confirming a purchase.

Epic’s announcement follows the resolution of its dispute with Google over app store fees, which have been reduced to 20%. Epic began the legal action in 2020, and the antitrust trial started in 2023.

What players should know

Overall, the Fortnite V-Bucks price increase means the listed packs will contain fewer V-Bucks, while several passes will cost less in V-Bucks. Check the updated amounts before buying and consider how the changes to Crew rewards and battle pass currency affect your plans.
