Gamescom 2026 attendance rose 6% to 368,000 visitors

Gamescom 2026 attendance reached 368,000 visitors from 131 countries, marking a 6% increase compared with the previous year. The event also reported growth in exhibitor numbers, trade visitors and online viewership, offering several ways to assess its reach across the games industry and public audience.

Gamescom 2026 attendance and exhibitor figures

A total of 1,743 companies from 66 countries exhibited at Gamescom, an 11% rise from 2025. International exhibitors made up 72% of participants. The event included 48 country pavilions representing 41 countries, with Brazil, Canada and the United States recording the strongest growth.

More than 36,000 trade visitors attended, and approximately half travelled from outside Germany. This figure refers to industry visitors, so it should be considered separately from the total attendance when comparing the event’s business audience with its overall visitor numbers.

Practical takeaway: The exhibitor and trade visitor figures help describe Gamescom’s industry reach, while total attendance reflects its broader audience. Keeping these measures separate makes year-to-year comparisons clearer.

Gamescom Dev draws more attendees

Gamescom Dev attendance increased 15% to 6,200 visitors. Held before Gamescom, the conference featured 397 speakers, 238 sessions and 18 stages. Across Gamescom Dev and its indie expo, more than 2,500 companies from 95 countries participated, alongside 57 partners and exhibitors.

Gamescom Dev managing director Frederik Hammes discussed the results of the event’s survey, which identified smaller studios as the games market’s largest growth opportunity. For developers planning conference visits, the programme’s session and stage counts can help with scheduling; checking session details in advance is a practical way to prioritize topics.

Digital viewership and community activity

By Saturday evening, Gamescom’s digital content had received more than 624 million global views. Opening Night Live accounted for 78 million views. The Gamescom Awesome Indies Show attracted more than 302,000 viewers, an increase of over 670%. Gamescom Epix, the event’s digital community adventure, generated 6.2 million page views, up approximately 9% from the previous year.

These online figures measure different kinds of engagement: video views, show viewership and page views. They should not be treated as interchangeable, but together they provide a broader picture of how audiences engaged with the event beyond the exhibition floor.

Organisers reflect on Gamescom 2026

German Games Industry Association managing director Felix Falk said the event strengthened its position as an international games industry platform, with many previous record figures surpassed, particularly in international participation and exhibitor numbers. He also highlighted the industry’s forward momentum despite ongoing challenges.

Koelnmesse president and chief executive officer Gerald Böse described Gamescom as a gathering that brings together people from around the world and combines the economic and social significance of games. He also pointed to the event’s growing international character and its importance to players, developers and creators.

When is Gamescom 2027?

Gamescom 2027 is scheduled for August 25 to 29, with Gamescom Dev taking place August 23 to 24. Visitors and industry professionals can use these dates to plan travel and decide whether to attend the public event, the development conference or both.

What the Gamescom 2026 attendance figures show

Gamescom 2026 attendance rose to 368,000 visitors, while exhibitor participation, Gamescom Dev attendance and digital engagement also grew. Considered separately, these figures show the event’s scale across its public, business and online audiences—and provide useful context for following Gamescom’s continued international growth.
