Gamescom Latam 2026 puts Brazilian games in the spotlight

Abragames, the Brazilian game developers association, planned a showcase featuring 36 games from Brazil. One of the titles was Talaka, a hand-painted game inspired by Afro-Brazilian folklore. The title is being published by the newly resurrected Acclaim.

The association’s wider programme was set to include the XDev Executive Bootcamp, business speed meetings, industry track talks and the Abragames Pitch Arena. These activities offer different ways to engage with the local development scene, whether the priority is discovering projects, hearing from industry professionals or making business connections. Attendees interested in a particular session should check its timing and format before arriving.

“Brazil is entering a defining phase in its emergence as a global game development hub,” said Rodrigo Terra, president of Abragames. “Our presence at Gamescom Latam 2026 goes beyond showcasing standout titles – it underscores the strength of a coordinated national ecosystem.”

More than 400 games and notable guests

More than 400 games were expected to be on show across the event. With such a large selection, visitors may find it helpful to make a shortlist ahead of time while leaving room to explore unfamiliar projects. The BIG (Best International Games) Awards were scheduled for opening night. This year’s finalists included Moonlighter 2 and MIO: Memories in Orbit.

Guest appearances were also part of the programme. Brendan Greene, creator of PUBG, was due to join a panel discussion. David Wise, the longtime Rare composer, was scheduled to perform with Brazilian band Gameboys and take part in a talk. Visitors interested in either appearance should consult the event programme for any schedule details.

How Gamescom Latam has grown

First held in 2024, Gamescom Latam grew by 30% in 2025, reaching 130,000 visitors. The previous edition also drew complaints from some exhibitors, a reminder that large events can involve varied experiences for attendees and businesses. The figures show the scale the show had reached by 2025, while the 2026 programme pointed to a continued focus on games, professional activities and regional development.

For anyone following the Latin American games industry, Gamescom Latam 2026 offered a useful snapshot of Brazilian projects and the wider ecosystem supporting them. Its combination of a 36-game national showcase, more than 400 titles, industry sessions and international guests made the schedule worth reviewing before attending.
