Pokémon Pokopia sales passed 2.2 million units worldwide during the game’s first four days on sale. The launch was followed by a notable rise in Nintendo’s share price, while some buyers in the US and UK found physical copies difficult to obtain.

Pokémon Pokopia sales reach 2.2 million units

The figure covers worldwide sales across the game’s first four days of release. Its strong opening has brought fresh attention to the Switch 2 exclusive and to Nintendo’s performance in the weeks following launch.

Nintendo shares rose by as much as 10.5% after the game became available. This was the company’s largest single increase since April 2025. The share movement followed a period of decline from a previous peak, although a rise after launch does not by itself establish how the game will affect Nintendo’s longer-term financial results.

For readers tracking the market figures, it is useful to distinguish between a share price reached during trading and the closing price. After the launch last Thursday, Nintendo shares reached ¥9,120 ($57.60) on Tuesday and then ¥10,075 ($63.65) the following day, before closing at ¥9,932 ($62.74).

Share price remains below its previous peak

Nintendo’s earlier high was recorded on November 6, when shares reached ¥14,105 ($89.09). By February 13, the price had fallen to ¥8,350 ($52.74). Despite the post-launch increase, the latest figures remain below that November peak.

Concerns about rising memory prices have also weighed on the company’s shares. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said the company was working to “secure stable supplies of memory components.” He also did not rule out future price increases for Switch 2 hardware if component costs continue to rise.

“If the rise in memory prices continues for longer than expected, it may start to have an effect on hardware profitability.”

For consumers, that means hardware pricing and availability may be worth checking before making a purchase. The comments describe a potential effect, not a confirmed price change.

Physical copies are difficult to find in some markets

Physical stock of the Switch 2 exclusive Game-Key Card has been limited in the US and UK. Amazon increased its listed price from $69.99 to $79.99, and the game was temporarily out of stock. UK retailers including Currys, Smyths Toys, and My Nintendo Store also faced shortages.

Stock can change quickly, so check the current price and availability with retailers before ordering. If a physical copy is unavailable, comparing several retailers may help you find a suitable option without relying on an outdated listing.

Critics respond positively to the game

Reviews were generally favourable, with critics suggesting that the game brings a fresh direction to the Pokémon franchise. Its sandbox approach has been compared with games such as Dragon Quest, Animal Crossing, Minecraft, and Viva Piñata.

The early sales result and positive reviews point to a strong start, while limited physical stock may affect how easily some players can buy the game. Overall, Pokémon Pokopia sales have made a notable first-week mark, but Nintendo’s share performance and hardware outlook will continue to depend on factors beyond one release.
