Pragmata and Resident Evil franchise boost Capcom’s Q1 ordinary profit by 81% to $252.5m

Capcom Q1 earnings rose sharply in the three months ended June 30, 2026, with growth led by new release Pragmata and continued sales of catalogue games, particularly the Resident Evil franchise. The company said it remains on track to meet its full-year forecast, which is unchanged from the projection issued in May 2026.

Capcom Q1 earnings: the key figures

Capcom reported year-on-year growth across net sales and all three profit measures. Its results for the quarter were:

  • Net sales: ¥70.4 billion ($429.5 million), up 54.7% year-on-year
  • Operating profit: ¥41 billion ($250.1 million), up 66.9%
  • Ordinary profit: ¥41.4 billion ($252.5 million), up 81.1%
  • Net income: ¥29.1 billion ($177.5 million), up 69.2%

For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, Capcom continues to project net sales of ¥210 billion ($1.3 billion) and net income of ¥58 billion ($367.5 million). Comparing the quarterly results with this full-year guidance can help readers track progress, but one quarter does not determine the final outcome.

Pragmata and catalogue games drive sales

The Digital Earnings segment was the main contributor to the quarter. It generated net sales of ¥54.6 billion ($333 million), an 83% increase year-on-year, while operating profit reached ¥37.5 billion ($228.7 million), up 87.5%.

Capcom reported total unit sales of 23.81 million, compared with 14.16 million in the same period last year. New intellectual property Pragmata, launched in April, sold more than 2.5 million units worldwide. It reached one million copies in two days and two million in 16 days.

Catalogue titles accounted for 21.26 million unit sales, up from 13.36 million units last quarter. Capcom attributed growth to efforts to reach a wider audience, including pricing strategies, animated tie-ins and releases across multiple platforms. For readers assessing the results, these figures show that the quarter’s performance came from both a new release and ongoing sales of existing games.

Resident Evil and other major franchises

Resident Evil Requiem exceeded 8 million units sold. Capcom also reported ongoing sales growth for other games in the franchise, led by Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 2.

Devil May Cry 5 reached cumulative sales of 14 million units. Capcom said closer coordination between Street Fighter 6 and its esports activities supported the game; the company reported 60 million units sold. That figure is worth checking against Capcom’s original reporting before republication.

Arcade operations and full-year outlook

Capcom said its Arcade Operations and Amusement Equipment divisions also supported Q1 earnings. Performance was linked to efficient operation of existing stores, the promotion of new store formats and sales of a new smart pachinko machine. The company did not provide divisional figures in the results summarized here.

Overall, Capcom’s unchanged forecast indicates that the company expects its current momentum to continue through the fiscal year. The key indicators to watch in future updates are sales of new releases, continued demand for catalogue titles and progress toward the stated full-year targets.

What Capcom Q1 earnings show

Capcom Q1 earnings increased across sales and profit measures, with Pragmata adding a strong new release to the contribution from established franchises such as Resident Evil. The next financial updates will show whether catalogue demand and new-game sales can sustain the growth reflected in this quarter’s results.
