Remedy revenues continue to rise in 2025, reaching €59.5m

Remedy revenue in 2025 increased by 17% to €59.5 million, while the company reported a full-year operating loss of €14.9 million. In the fourth quarter, higher royalties and sales from Alan Wake 2 and Control helped revenue rise sharply and returned the period to operating profitability.

Remedy revenue in 2025: key financial figures

The results show a clear difference between the final quarter and the full financial year. Quarterly revenue and operating profit improved, but the annual loss widened compared with 2024.

Fourth quarter 2025

  • Revenue: €17 million, up 46.3%.
  • Operating profit: €0.7 million, compared with an operating loss of €1.4 million in 2024.

Full year 2025

  • Revenue: €59.5 million, up 17%.
  • Operating loss: €14.9 million, compared with €4.3 million in 2024.

When comparing the figures, it is useful to distinguish operating performance for the quarter from the full-year result. The annual loss included a non-cash impairment related mainly to FBC: Firebreak.

Game sales and royalties supported fourth-quarter growth

Remedy said that rising game sales and royalties accounted for almost half of its fourth-quarter revenue. Alan Wake 2 royalties and sales of Control were among the main contributors. The company attributed its improved quarterly profitability to the higher revenue level.

Control, originally released in 2019, sold an additional million copies during the year. Interest also followed the announcement of Control: Resonant, previously known as Control 2, at The Game Awards in December 2025. The sequel was scheduled to launch in 2026. Interim CEO Markus Mäki said its early reception had been excellent and that wishlist numbers were positive.

Alan Wake 2 generated royalties after being featured on PlayStation Plus in October. Remedy also reported continued royalty income from unit sales of the survival-horror game, alongside steady sales of other titles in the Alan Wake franchise.

Development fees and FBC: Firebreak affected annual results

For the full year, Remedy linked higher revenue to development fees for the Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes and Control: Resonant, royalties from Alan Wake 2, and sales revenue from FBC: Firebreak, including subscription-service agreements. Development fees totaled €32.9 million, while game sales and related revenue amounted to €26.6 million.

Launched in June 2025, FBC: Firebreak is a three-player cooperative spin-off from Control and Remedy’s first self-published title. Its performance fell short of the company’s expectations. Remedy later issued a profit warning following weak sales and recognised a €14.9 million non-cash impairment. The impairment represented most of the game’s capitalised development costs, allocated purchased publishing, and distribution rights.

The company had previously expected operating profit to increase from the prior year. The impairment contributed to a loss instead, so it is an important factor when assessing the annual result alongside revenue growth.

Leadership changes and what the results indicate

Tera Virtala stepped down as CEO in October 2025 after nine years, with Mäki taking over on an interim basis. Remedy subsequently appointed former Electronic Arts vice-president Jean-Charles Gaudechon as CEO, with his appointment scheduled to take effect on March 1, 2026.

Mäki described the fourth quarter as positive and profitable after several challenging quarters, pointing to the performance of Remedy’s single-player games and the response to Control: Resonant. The contrast between quarterly profitability and the full-year operating loss shows why both periods matter when evaluating the company’s finances.

Conclusion

Remedy revenue in 2025 reached €59.5 million, supported by development fees, game sales and royalties. Fourth-quarter growth from Alan Wake 2 and Control helped deliver a €0.7 million operating profit, while the full-year operating loss widened to €14.9 million, largely reflecting the impairment associated with FBC: Firebreak.
