Remedy rolls out last FBC: Firebreak content update, affirms the game will be online “for years to come”

The latest FBC: Firebreak update brings new content and easier ways to play with friends, as Remedy Entertainment releases the game’s final major content update. Called Open House, the update adds Control-themed material and a Friend’s Pass. Remedy has also lowered the game’s price and says its relay servers will remain online and the game playable for years to come.

What the FBC: Firebreak update includes

Open House is the last planned major content update for Remedy’s multiplayer game. Its additions include new content inspired by Control, the studio’s connected franchise. The update also introduces the Friend’s Pass, which lets people who own FBC: Firebreak invite friends who do not own it to join them.

Remedy has reduced the game’s price as well, aiming to make it more accessible to potential players. If you are considering trying it with friends, check the game’s current listing for the price and the Friend’s Pass details that apply to your platform.

FBC: Firebreak will stay online

Although Open House is the final major content release, Remedy says FBC: Firebreak will remain online and playable “for years to come.” The studio’s assurance is significant for a multiplayer title, where ongoing server access affects whether players can continue joining sessions together.

Game director Mike Kayatta said the team wants existing players, as well as newcomers, to keep sharing matches. He pointed to the continued operation of relay servers, the lower price and the Friend’s Pass as ways to support that goal. The announcement is about continued access, however, and does not promise additional major content updates.

How FBC: Firebreak performed

FBC: Firebreak was Remedy’s first multiplayer game and launched in June 2025. It received a weak critical and commercial response. Remedy subsequently adjusted its fiscal outlook after reporting weak sales, and later said the game had not met expectations and contributed to disappointing third-quarter performance.

The Open House update offers players new themed content and a way to bring friends into the game, but the title’s commercial difficulties provide context for the decision to stop major content development. For anyone already playing, the most practical takeaway is that Remedy says the servers will continue operating; for prospective players, the Friend’s Pass may offer a way to try playing with an owner before buying.

Remedy’s leadership change

In October, Tero Virtala stepped down as Remedy’s chief executive. He had held the position since 2016. The company later appointed Jean-Charles Gaudechon, a former EA vice president, as its new CEO.

What the final FBC: Firebreak update means for players

The final major FBC: Firebreak update adds Control-themed content and makes it easier to invite friends, while Remedy’s server commitment gives players reassurance about continued access. Anyone deciding whether to try the game should weigh those features alongside the fact that no further major content updates are planned.
