Roblox standalone apps are part of a new plan to let creators publish their games across mobile, PC, and console platforms. The Roblox Everywhere initiative could make it easier for players to access experiences in different ways, while Roblox continues to provide the underlying technology and services.

How Roblox standalone apps are expected to work
Roblox announced the initiative at its Developers Conference. Under the plan, selected creators will be able to offer their games as standalone applications on multiple platforms. Roblox has not confirmed whether these apps will appear on third-party storefronts. The initial phase is intended to test the approach with a limited group of developers and storefronts, with further details expected later.
For creators, the key point is that the rollout will begin as a test rather than a general release. Developers should watch for eligibility and platform requirements before planning a launch, since availability and storefront support have not yet been fully outlined.
Browser access and offline play
By the end of 2026, players are expected to be able to join experiences directly from an Experience Details page in a browser, without installing an app. Chrome is planned as the first supported browser, with additional browsers to follow. This could provide a lower-friction way to try a game, although the announcement does not specify which experiences will support browser play.
Roblox also plans to let creators enable offline solo play. The feature is expected to enter early access before a full release by mid-2027. Creators considering offline functionality should account for how their experience behaves without an internet connection, particularly if it relies on shared or live features.
Engine updates and AI creation tools
Planned engine additions include an orthographic camera, animated image containers, direct sprite-sheet importing, and improvements to interface features and gradients. These tools may give developers more options for building and presenting their experiences. Availability details and implementation requirements have not yet been provided, so creators should look for technical guidance as the updates approach.
Roblox is also adding an AI creation layer to its cloud operating system, which is designed for game development. Its mobile Build feature, powered by AI, is set to expand to Serbia and Singapore following its alpha launch in New Zealand. Earlier this year, the company also introduced agentic AI tools intended to help creators build a game from a single prompt.
Wallet, payments, and Roblox financial results
Roblox Wallet and Roblox Card are intended to give creators more flexible access to earnings. The Wallet is scheduled to roll out in December to independent creators aged 18 or older in the United States, with international expansion planned for the following year. It is designed to support daily payments in local currency and transfers to other Roblox accounts or external bank accounts. A physical card is planned for 2027, allowing creators to spend their available balance wherever the card is accepted.
Roblox reported a 36% increase in revenue to $1.5 billion in its latest financial results. However, the company also reported pressure on monetisation per hour among younger users in the United States and Canada, and its shares declined by 70%. Chief financial officer Naveen Chopra attributed some of the bookings impact to recommendation changes that prioritize long-term retention. He said the company expects to improve recommendations using age-check data, while monetisation weakness may continue.
What Roblox standalone apps could mean for creators
Roblox standalone apps, browser-based access, offline solo play, and new creation tools represent several planned changes for developers and players. The rollout details remain limited, so creators should distinguish announced plans from features that are already generally available. Following official technical updates will help developers assess platform support, eligibility, and timing before making decisions about their games.
