Roblox releases agentic AI tools for creators, promising ability to “build a game with a single prompt”

Roblox AI tools are expanding how creators can plan, build and test games in Roblox Studio. The company says its updated Planning Mode can turn a text description into a detailed development plan, help implement that plan and check whether the resulting game behaves as intended. The goal is to make a complex, multi-step process more collaborative than simply generating a one-shot result from a prompt.

How Roblox AI tools use Planning Mode

Roblox says creators can describe the game or feature they want, then work with the Assistant to shape the idea into a sequence of development steps. Planning Mode can examine a project’s code and data model, ask follow-up questions and produce a plan that creators can review and edit before any changes are made.

The plan is intended to function like a compact game design document. Once it reflects the creator’s goals, AI agents can use it to carry out tasks in parallel and compare their work with the original direction. This staged approach may help creators catch misunderstandings early, rather than discovering them only after a large change has been applied.

  • Describe the goal: Explain the game idea or change in plain language.
  • Review the proposed plan: Add context and adjust details so the steps match the intended design.
  • Check the result: Use testing feedback to identify behavior that does not match the plan.

For more reliable results, creators should make prompts specific about gameplay, rules and expected behavior. Reviewing the plan before implementation is also important: AI-generated steps can still need correction, and the creator remains responsible for deciding whether the changes fit the game.

Playtesting agent checks game behavior

Roblox has also announced a beta playtesting agent. According to the company, it can review code and the data model, read logs and control the player character to test gameplay behavior. The agent is designed to assess the game against the original plan, rather than only checking whether a project can be launched.

Roblox says the testing stage could become part of future planning cycles. In that setup, feedback from a test could inform adjustments, creating a process that can identify and correct issues over repeated iterations. The company has not described this as a replacement for human review, so creators should still test important features themselves.

Procedural game assets also planned

The company says it plans to introduce a tool for procedural generation of game assets. The announced feature would let users create a gameplay object and scale it to fit available space in a game world. More details about its availability and capabilities were not included in the announcement.

Other Roblox updates and context

The AI announcements come amid other changes to the platform. Roblox recently introduced child-safety features and parental controls. It also agreed to pay $10 million to the state of Nevada to settle claims related to child safety. Reuters reporting cited more than 140 cases involving the company.

Roblox has also begun requiring a paid subscription to publish games on its platform. The company has described the requirement as an additional safety measure. It may also help offset ongoing losses, which reached $316 million in the final quarter of 2025.

What creators should know about Roblox AI tools

Roblox AI tools are designed to support planning, implementation and testing, with creator review built into the process. Their practical value will depend on how clearly a creator describes the intended experience and how carefully the proposed plan and test results are checked. For now, Planning Mode and the playtesting agent point toward a more iterative approach to game development, rather than promising that a complete, polished game will reliably emerge from one prompt.
