How Roblox Plus may benefit creators
Roblox says it will fund the discounts rather than reduce creators’ earnings per item. According to the company, subscribers can use the same number of Robux to buy more items, which could also create more sales opportunities for creators.
Creators may also earn Robux when subscribers use paid private servers:
- A creator can earn up to 100 Robux for each Roblox Plus subscriber who spends at least 60 cumulative minutes in a game’s paid private server during a 30-day period.
- Roblox will pay out for up to five paid private servers where that subscriber spent the most time during the period.
Another earning opportunity is tied to a new API that lets users subscribe to Roblox Plus from within a participating game. If a player joins through a game using the API, its creator can receive a bonus of 250 Robux per month for each of the subscriber’s first three months, provided the subscription remains active. That can amount to up to 750 Robux for each new subscriber acquired in this way.
What happens to Roblox Premium?
Roblox Premium will stop accepting new sign-ups as Roblox Plus arrives. Existing Premium members can continue their membership and may opt into a free one-month Roblox Plus trial, which can be added on top of their Premium subscription. Roblox has not specified how long existing Premium memberships can continue.
From May, Premium members will no longer receive the additional 10% on Robux purchases. Current subscribers should review the membership details and trial conditions before deciding whether to switch or use the offer.
