Amazon Luna to phase out support for third-party subscriptions and game stores

Amazon Luna subscription changes will affect how players access games on the cloud gaming service. Starting June 10, 2026, a standard or premium Luna subscription will be required to play games in a user’s Luna library. The update also ends support for several third-party stores, subscriptions, and individually purchased games.

Amazon Luna subscription changes: what is ending?

Amazon says it is moving away from certain subscription, game-store, and à-la-carte purchasing options in favor of other approaches. From the announced date, these services and features will no longer be available through Luna:

  • The EA, Ubisoft, and GOG game stores.
  • Ubisoft+ and Jackbox Games subscriptions purchased through Luna.
  • The “Bring Your Own Library” feature, which let players stream eligible games they had bought elsewhere.
  • Access to games in a Luna library without a standard or premium subscription.

Before the change, check which titles you access through a third-party store or subscription rather than through a Luna subscription. This can help you identify games that may no longer be playable through Luna after the transition.

What happens to games bought through other services?

Games obtained through the affected stores, subscriptions, or individual purchase options will remain playable on Luna until June 10, 2026. After that date, they will be removed from Luna. Players can still access those titles through the third-party accounts linked to the games, where the relevant service supports access.

Amazon says it will not issue refunds for these games. Luna access and ownership through a third-party account are separate: losing the ability to stream a title on Luna does not itself mean the linked account’s access is removed. Players should check the terms and library of the service where each game was acquired.

Download Luna game saves before the deadline

Players will be able to download their game saves for 90 days after June 10, 2026. Amazon cautions that it cannot guarantee the downloaded files will work with other gaming services. If you want to keep a copy, review the available save-download instructions and store the files somewhere secure.

Save files are not the same as a game license, and compatibility can depend on the game and the platform. Before switching services, check whether the game supports importing saves and whether progress can be transferred.

How Luna subscriptions work

Amazon Luna launched in 2020 as a cloud gaming service competing with offerings from Google, Microsoft, and PlayStation. It previously required a separate subscription. The standard service is now included with Amazon Prime, while a premium tier provides access to a broader game selection.

Because the subscription requirement applies to games in a Luna library, players should confirm which tier they have and whether a particular title is included before relying on continued access. Availability may depend on the game and the applicable subscription.

What players should do next

  • Review your Luna library and identify games accessed through EA, Ubisoft, GOG, Ubisoft+, Jackbox Games, or Bring Your Own Library.
  • Check the linked third-party accounts where you acquired those games.
  • Download any Luna saves you want to keep within the 90-day window.
  • Confirm your standard or premium subscription if you plan to continue playing games through Luna.

In short, the Amazon Luna subscription changes make a standard or premium subscription necessary for playing games in a Luna library and remove several third-party access options. Check where your games and saves are stored so you can plan for the transition.
