Arc Raiders and Detroit: Become Human top sellers over the holiday period, say analysts

The figures offer a snapshot of demand across platforms, while separate estimates provide a closer look at Steam and player activity.

Arc Raiders sales lead holiday rankings

Video Game Insights estimated that Embark Studios’ extraction shooter sold over four million copies across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox during December. Alinea Analytics estimated that the Steam version added another 1.2 million copies between December 21, 2025, and January 5, 2026.

Since its October 30 launch, Arc Raiders has sold more than seven million copies on Steam. Embark’s parent company, Nexon, later confirmed that the game had passed 12.4 million units sold overall, including more than 2.4 million units in 2026 so far.

These figures cover different platforms and time periods, so they should not be added together as if they measure the same sales window. For comparisons, check whether a figure refers to Steam alone or all platforms.

Detroit: Become Human benefits from a deep discount

Detroit: Become Human ranked second among Steam’s best-selling games for the period, with 993,000 copies sold. The 2018 title was discounted from $40 to $4 during the Steam Winter Sale, its lowest price since 2020.

The sale generated $3.2 million in revenue, taking the game’s Steam revenue above $150 million. The report also said the title passed seven million copies sold over Christmas. A steep discount can bring older games back into the sales rankings, although copies sold and revenue tell different parts of the story.

Other notable holiday sales and player figures

Battlefield 6 sold more than 3.5 million units across platforms in December, according to Video Game Insights. Alinea Analytics reported 706,000 copies sold between December 21 and January 5.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sold an additional one million copies over Christmas, with its performance boosted by its success at The Game Awards. Sandfall Interactive’s debut game was the biggest third-party launch on Xbox Game Pass that year. By October 8, it had exceeded five million sales worldwide.

On PlayStation and Xbox, EA Sports FC 26 led games ranked by new players between December 21 and January 4, attracting 1.7 million. PlayStation 5 accounted for 73% of its total player base, while Europe was its largest market at 37%.

Compared with the same period after launch for EA Sports FC 25, FC 26 player numbers were down 17%. The newer title reached 13.8 million players in 110 days, versus 16.6 million for its predecessor. On Xbox, Arc Raiders ranked first for new players with 564,000, while FC 26 placed fifth with 286,000.

What the holiday figures show

Arc Raiders sales stood out across platforms, while discounting helped Detroit: Become Human return to the top of Steam’s rankings. Keep sales estimates, revenue totals, and new-player counts separate when comparing these games: each measures a different aspect of performance.
