Arc Raiders and The Finals adaptations: what is known
Chernin Entertainment, the film and television division of The North Road Company, was chosen from several production companies and studios competing for the rights. Its role is to lead the development and production of TV series and movies connected to the games.
The agreement is part of a broader effort to build each game into a transmedia property. Nexon executive chairman and Embark founder and CEO Patrick Söderlund described the partnership as a major step towards creating “deeply integrated transmedia experiences.” Chernin Entertainment president of film David Ready called the games ambitious global intellectual properties with franchise potential across film and television.
No release dates, cast members, networks or streaming platforms have been announced in the information available so far. For viewers, that means the adaptations are at an early stage: details about their stories and how closely they will follow the games remain to be confirmed.
Why the games are drawing screen interest
Arc Raiders launched in October 2025 and has sold more than 16 million copies. It was named best multiplayer game at the 2025 Game Awards and also received the best multiplayer award at the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards. Those milestones give a sense of the game’s audience and recognition, though they do not indicate what the screen adaptation’s plot will be.
Free-to-play first-person shooter The Finals registered more than 30 million players over three years. Its player base provides another measure of the reach behind the planned projects. The two games are distinct properties, so their adaptations may take different creative approaches; no specific approach has been announced.
Chernin Entertainment’s film and television work
Chernin Entertainment’s credits include the film Backrooms, which grossed more than $400 million worldwide on a $10 million budget, and the Apple TV series Chief of War. The company’s involvement places the game adaptations with a producer that has worked across both film and television.
Video game adaptations continue to expand
Games have inspired a growing range of film and TV projects. Recent examples include a Resident Evil movie that debuted as the highest-rated video game movie adaptation ever, and the second season of Arcane: League of Legends, which holds a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. These examples show the range of outcomes possible when game properties move to the screen, but they do not predict how the new projects will be received.
For now, the main confirmed detail is that Chernin Entertainment is leading TV and film projects for both games. Fans following Arc Raiders and The Finals adaptations can look for future announcements about formats, creative teams, release plans and story details.
