Jagex to expand RuneScape: Dragonwilds into Asia-Pacific region

The RuneScape: Dragonwilds Asia-Pacific expansion will bring the survival-crafting game to more players later this year. Jagex says the regional launch will include localisation in Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, marking what the company describes as its most significant international expansion so far.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds Asia-Pacific expansion plans

Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy said the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region is an important market with highly engaged gaming communities. He described the language rollout as part of a broader commitment to developing RuneScape as a global franchise, rather than simply translating the game for new audiences.

The planned languages are Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Players interested in joining should check the game’s store listing and announcements as the launch approaches for confirmed regional availability and language details. Jagex has not provided a specific launch date in the announcement.

Why Dragonwilds may appeal to APAC players

Jagex sees the expansion as a natural next step in its effort to build a broader, community-focused range of RuneScape products. Bellamy pointed to the popularity of survival-crafting games in the region and highlighted Dragonwilds’ combination of RuneScape-style skilling, cooperative play, and a detailed fantasy world.

That mix gives players a survival-crafting format while retaining familiar elements associated with RuneScape. Those considering the game can look at its early-access status and current language options before purchasing, since features and availability may vary as development continues.

Previous international releases

RuneScape: Dragonwilds entered early access on Steam in April 2025. In September, the game also expanded into Latin America with Portuguese and Spanish localisation. The APAC launch would add three more language options to the game’s international reach.

Jagex has also discussed changes to its company and product strategies as it prepares for an ambitious period. The company’s senior vice president, James Dobrowski, previously described 2026 as its biggest, most ambitious, and most challenging year on record, following a review of its priorities and plans.

What players should watch for

  • Launch timing: Jagex has said the APAC release is planned for later this year, but has not announced a precise date.
  • Language support: The announced localisation covers Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
  • Availability: Check the game’s store page and Jagex announcements for regional access and updated details as release plans develop.

The RuneScape: Dragonwilds Asia-Pacific expansion is intended to make the game more accessible to players in the region while extending Jagex’s international plans. Its launch timing and language support are the key details to follow as the release gets closer.
