Konami’s Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls to be taken offline next month

Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls is set to leave Apple Arcade on August 20, with the game’s service ending completely on September 3. After the shutdown, players will no longer be able to play the title. The announcement gives Apple Arcade subscribers a short window to revisit the game before it goes offline.

Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls shutdown dates

Konami has confirmed two key dates for the game’s removal. It will be delisted from Apple Arcade on August 20, then its service will end on September 3. The announcement says the game will not be playable after the latter date.

  • August 20: The game is removed from Apple Arcade.
  • September 3: The game goes offline and can no longer be played.

Because removal and shutdown happen on different dates, players should not assume that being able to access the game after August 20 means it will remain available indefinitely. Konami’s notice does not specify how access will work for existing players during the period between the two dates. Check the game’s current listing and Konami’s official service information for any details relevant to your account or device.

What Konami said about the closure

Konami thanked the players who supported the game after its Apple Arcade launch in September 2021. The company said it had decided to end the service and expressed appreciation to the players and the teams involved in developing and operating the title.

The announcement does not provide further information about account data, saved progress, or whether players can transfer anything after the shutdown. If you want to keep track of your progress or have questions about access, review the game’s in-app information and official notices before September 3. Avoid assuming that saved data or gameplay will remain available once the service has ended.

From mobile launch to Apple Arcade

Grimoire of Souls first arrived in September 2019 as a free-to-play game for iOS and Android in Canada. It was discontinued about a year later. The title subsequently returned through Apple Arcade, with support for iOS, tvOS, iPadOS, and Mac.

For its Apple Arcade release, Konami removed in-game currency and microtransactions, revised the layouts, and improved the graphics. These changes marked a different release model from the original free-to-play version. Players considering a final play session should check that their Apple Arcade subscription and device are compatible with the game while it remains available.

Other games also scheduled to go offline

Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls is one of several games reported to be ending service in the coming months. Mario Kart Tour is scheduled to shut down in September, Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem in October, and Destruction AllStars in November. These dates are separate from Konami’s schedule, so players should consult each game’s own announcement for details.

What players should do before the shutdown

If you currently play the game, note the August 20 delisting date and the September 3 service end date. Check official updates for any changes or additional guidance, and make time to play before the service closes if you want to revisit it. Since the game will not be playable after September 3, Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls players should treat that date as the final deadline for access.
