Bossfight Entertainment’s original founders have brought the studio name back as an independent game developer. Based in Dallas, Texas, the reunited leadership team is working on an unannounced game for PC and mobile, while planning to keep its core operation small and flexible.

Bossfight Entertainment returns as an independent studio

The new studio is led by CEO David Rippy, chief product officer Bill Jackson, and COO Scott Winsett. The founders say they have worked together on creating and growing games for more than a decade, and that the relaunch brings the original leadership group back under the Bossfight name.

For players, the key detail is that the team has not yet announced the project’s title, genre, release date, or specific platforms beyond PC and mobile. Until those details are shared, there is no confirmed release schedule or gameplay information to assess.

From Netflix ownership to an independent team

Netflix acquired Bossfight Entertainment in 2022. The company later closed the studio in October 2025, despite the success of Squid Game: Unleashed, which launched in December 2024. The founders’ independent relaunch is a separate operation under the Bossfight name.

Rippy described the move as a reunion of the team that originally built Bossfight and a return to the principles that shaped its work. The studio has not announced whether its new project will be connected to any previous Bossfight game, so players should wait for official project details before drawing conclusions.

A lean development model with partner support

Winsett said the studio intends to maintain a small core team focused on creative work and execution. It plans to bring in trusted partners when additional development capacity is needed. This approach can help a studio adjust its team size to a project’s requirements, although the company has not disclosed which partners it may work with.

For prospective players, a lean structure does not reveal a game’s scale or production schedule. The most useful indicators to watch for will be an official announcement, platform details, and updates about development progress.

Former developers launch Sunwise Games

Other former Bossfight developers have also formed a studio. Sunwise Games describes its focus as PC games built around interconnected systems, long-term depth, clear progression, and respectful monetisation. It includes 26 developers from the original Bossfight team alongside additional hires, bringing its reported total to 30 employees.

The formation of Sunwise Games and the Bossfight relaunch are distinct developments. Both involve former members of the original studio, but the available information does not indicate that they are working together on the same project.

What to watch for next

Bossfight Entertainment has confirmed that development is underway, but its new game remains unannounced. Players interested in the studio should look for verified updates about the title, supported devices, and release timing. For now, the clearest confirmed facts are the independent relaunch, the Dallas headquarters, and the team’s PC and mobile focus.
