What to expect from the Kinetic Publishing showcase

The Kinetic Publishing Showcase will be narrated by Ben Starr, whose acting credits include Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Final Fantasy 16. Production is being handled by DoubleJump. The presentation will reveal the first games the label has signed, along with details about their expected release periods and platforms.

The showcase is scheduled to stream on Kinetic Publishing’s Twitch channel at 8pm BST on August 12. Co-streaming partners are expected to be announced later. Viewers interested in a particular game should look for the platform and release-window information during the presentation, as those details can help clarify where and when each title is currently expected to arrive.

How Kinetic Publishing plans to support indie games

Kinetic Publishing launched in January under the leadership of Daniel Knight, creator of Phasmophobia. At launch, Knight and Asim Tanvir, the label’s director of marketing and partnerships, said the company was self-funded and had no outside shareholders or investors.

The label said it intends to support two to three independent projects each year. Funding may range from a few hundred thousand pounds to as much as £1 million, depending on what an individual project requires. This range is not a fixed amount for every team; the stated plan is to assess funding needs on a project-by-project basis.

Kinetic Games’ aim is to provide developers with support that Knight would have valued when he began making Phasmophobia on his own in 2020. Since the label’s announcement, hundreds of teams have submitted projects. Tanvir said the submissions came from passionate, creative independent developers around the world.

Chris Rose, publishing production manager at Kinetic Publishing, described the projects reviewed so far as varied, spanning cosy games, science fiction, horror and other genres. The label’s stated goal is to help developers bring their creative plans to life and provide support that can help their projects succeed.

Why the debut slate is worth watching

The first announced games will offer a clearer picture of the kinds of projects Kinetic Publishing wants to back. Although the label has described a broad range of genres, the showcase will reveal which specific titles have been selected and provide initial timing and platform details. These are useful details for players to follow, while planned release windows may change as development continues.

Phasmophobia has sold more than 27 million copies since its launch in 2020. That total is up from the 25 million sales reported when Kinetic Publishing launched in January. The game’s success provides context for the new label’s origins, while the showcase will introduce the independent projects it plans to support next.

Conclusion

Kinetic Publishing’s August 12 showcase will reveal its debut slate and share release-window and platform information for games planned for 2027 and 2028. For players following the label, the presentation is the first opportunity to see which indie teams it has chosen to support and what genres its early lineup will cover.
