Remedy reports “stable” Q1 performance despite decreases in revenue and operating profit

Remedy Q1 results show a profitable quarter, even as revenue and operating profit declined year over year. The company described its overall performance as stable, citing growth in game sales and royalties and continued development of Control Resonant, which is on track for a 2026 release.

This is the first quarter since Jean-Charles Gaudechon, formerly a vice president at Electronic Arts, became Remedy’s CEO on March 1, 2026. The company said its leading priority is delivering a successful launch for its next game.

Remedy Q1 results: revenue and operating profit

Remedy reported €13.1 million in revenue for the quarter, a 1.9% decrease. Operating profit was €1 million, down 23% from €1.3 million in the corresponding quarter last year.

  • Revenue: €13.1 million, down 1.9%.
  • Operating profit: €1 million, compared with €1.3 million a year earlier.

For readers assessing the figures, the year-over-year comparison provides useful context: profitability remained positive, but both revenue and operating profit were lower than in the same quarter last year.

Game sales and royalties supported the portfolio

Despite the declines in the headline financial measures, Remedy said its game portfolio remained stable. Game sales and royalties increased, supported by stronger publishing for Control, higher royalties from Alan Wake 2, and subscription agreements for FBC: Firebreak.

Control, first released in 2019, recorded year-over-year sales growth. Remedy attributed the increase to promotions and greater visibility connected to Control Resonant. The original game has sold more than six million copies over its lifetime.

Alan Wake 2 royalties also rose after Alan Wake 2 and Alan Wake Remastered became available through Amazon Luna. Remedy said the service generated royalties through platform agreements.

FBC: Firebreak remains available

FBC: Firebreak did not reach Remedy’s internal targets. The company nevertheless plans to keep the game live and playable, and said maintaining its infrastructure would not result in significant costs. Players considering the title should note that Remedy has confirmed ongoing availability, while acknowledging that its performance fell short of expectations.

Control Resonant and development projects

Development fees declined during the quarter but still made up more than half of total revenue. They came from work on Control Resonant and the remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2.

Remedy’s main focus during the quarter was the marketing campaign for Control Resonant. The company said development is progressing steadily and that the game remains on track for release in 2026. It will support eight audio languages, including Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese, making it Remedy’s most extensively localised game to date.

Gaudechon said that after taking the CEO role and getting to know the company and its teams, he remained confident in Remedy’s vision. He described the quarter as profitable, said games already on the market performed in line with expectations, and identified the quality of Control Resonant and a successful launch as the studio’s top priority.

He also pointed to Remedy’s approach to storytelling and gameplay, its Northlight engine, and the Remedy Connected Universe as elements that distinguish the studio’s work. The company plans to focus on execution while preserving the creative culture it has developed over three decades.

What the Remedy Q1 results mean

The Remedy Q1 results present a mixed picture: revenue and operating profit fell, but the quarter remained profitable and sales and royalties improved. Control’s continued sales, additional Alan Wake 2 royalties and progress on Control Resonant are important details behind the company’s stable portfolio assessment. The next key point to watch is whether the upcoming release meets Remedy’s 2026 schedule and launch ambitions.
