Rockstar launches official marketplace for mods

The Cfx Marketplace is Rockstar’s official storefront for mods made for multiplayer role-play servers. It gives creators a place to share and sell items such as props, scripts and maps, while giving server owners and players a dedicated place to browse available content. Listings include free mods as well as paid bundles, some of which cost several hundred dollars.

What is the Cfx Marketplace?

Rockstar describes the Cfx Marketplace as a curated digital storefront intended for “every server and every player.” The marketplace is launching in stages, with the rollout designed to support a good experience for creators and server owners. As a result, the selection and availability may change as the project develops.

At launch, Rockstar partnered with a selected group of creators who had worked with the team during the marketplace’s development. The range of content includes practical additions for role-play servers, such as maps, scripts and props. Before choosing an item, check its listing carefully to understand what is included and whether it suits your server’s setup.

How Cfx Marketplace connects to FiveM and RedM

The storefront follows Rockstar’s 2023 acquisition of Cfx.re, the modding team behind FiveM and RedM. FiveM supports Grand Theft Auto 5 multiplayer role-play servers, while RedM is associated with Red Dead Redemption 2. FiveM was created in 2015, and RedM followed in 2019.

The history of these communities includes a change in Rockstar’s approach. In 2015, Rockstar Games and Take-Two described FiveM as an unauthorized alternate multiplayer server and banned three of its principal creators. In November 2022, Rockstar changed its policy for role-play servers. It allowed servers such as FiveM and RedM provided they were non-commercial, did not misuse intellectual property or trademarks, and did not interfere with Rockstar’s official online and multiplayer services.

What to check before choosing a mod

Prices vary: some items are free, while bundles may cost several hundred dollars. A higher price does not necessarily mean a mod will be the right fit for a particular server, so review the item details before committing.

  • Check compatibility: Confirm that the listing names the game and server environment you use.
  • Review what is included: Look for details about the files, features and any dependencies required.
  • Consider server rules: Make sure your planned use follows Rockstar’s role-play server policy, including its restrictions on commercial use and intellectual property.
  • Compare the cost: Review the price and bundle contents against your server’s needs before purchasing.

What the staged rollout means

Rockstar says the marketplace will roll out in stages. That means creators and server owners should check the storefront for current availability rather than assume every category or item is already accessible. A staged release can also give buyers time to assess the available listings as the selection grows.

Overall, the Cfx Marketplace creates an official place to discover role-play server content connected to FiveM and RedM. Check compatibility, listing details, price and applicable server rules before using or purchasing a mod.
